Our bikes have been subjected to the most rigorous resistance tests that INTI requires.

The INTI-Mécanique Center tested the resistance of the bamboo frame.

The bamboo fiber can withstand pulls of 40kN / cm2 (the steel resists up to 37kN / cm2).

INTRODUCTION

PROTOTYPE
SUBMITTED TO TESTS

On December 19, 2009, we submitted our prototype to a series of tests and basic tests necessary for the marketing of each frame or bikes. We carried out these tests under the direction of the engineer Daniel Martínez Krahmer, Coordinator of the Technical Unit of Machines and Tools of this Center. The test report was sent to INTI-Mécanique.

OBJECTIF

TESTING THE RESISTANCE OF A BAMBOO FRAME

Subject tested: Bamboo frame model “buena vista”

Photo 1: one can observe the model which has been tested, in the laboratories of the Center INTI-Mécanique.

Test Results

The tests carried out on the indicated model were carried out in order to check whether this meets the criteria required by IRAM 400020 (reference documentation).

IMPACT OF MASS

IMPACT ASSEMBLY FRAME /FORK

 STAINLESS STEAL /PEDAL LOAD

CONCLUSION
The frame, the bamboo thatch parts, as well as the fiber seals of the model tested, showed no visible fractures or cracks, visually inspected

SPECIFICATIONS:
The IRAM standard 40020 is only applicable to bicycles with frames made of steel or aluminum. This standard does not take into account a material such as bamboo.

IRAM 40020 states that after testing, the subject should be evaluated using non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques. These techniques are not applicable to bamboo, therefore, only visual checks were made on the subject being tested.
